BENDDING CHART FOR
AIR-BENDING |
This chart is based on 40 to 45 daN/mm2
tensile strength steel (28 tons U.T.S.). Beign generally aeare
of two factors, sheet thickness e, and inner radius of
the bend ri, the chart shows by direct reading: |
- The tonnage, in tons per metre of length to be bent F
- The dimension of the smallest flange available b.
- The opening of the die to be used V.
|
|
The opening of the advised dies are given
in the red squares. This V opening is related to the
thickness e of the sheet of bent. |
|
The advised values are the following : |
For e 10 mm Vee
die = 8 e |
For e 12 mm Vee
die = 10 e |
|
If the advised opening connot be
maintained (smaller flange required, tooling not available,
insufficient tonnage) select a die opening as shown by the
adjacent squares. |
For bending other material (stainless,
aluminium for example) this chart remains valid. in the ratio of
the tensile strength. |
|
Examples : if this chart, based on 40
daN/mm2 (28 tons U.T.S. shows a tonnage of 50 tones for a given
bending the tonnage will be 25 tons for the same bending of an
aluminium sheet having a tensile strength of 20 daN/mm2 14 tons
U.T.S.) |
